Gaddafi's 'Devil Dogs' wore yellow helmets and were his version of special forces troops. They came out of the desert in the early days of the revolt and attacked Benghazi. They probably got the helmet and uniform from a captured or dead Gaddafi soldier. Most of them were mercenaries from black, French-speaking countries in Africa, but some were from other places, as well.
