I used to long for the meatloaf sandwich downtown at the drug store on Main & 4th. I worked at the travel agency just up the street.
We moved my parents out of Santa Ana neighborhood when hardly anyone spoke English anymore and they spoke with an accent themselves. We moved them to Temecula. That is where we are now, cleaning out their house so we can sell it. Having grown up in Conservative Orange County, I am totally disgusted with what has happened to California in general.
Helga: Employment brought me to and kept me in Santa Ana. With a +/- 15 year interlude working in the Bay Area, I have been here since 1983. My company, or I should say former company as I recently retired, is headquartered in Santa Ana, originally in downtown (Fifth & Main) and later just off the 55 Freeway at Macarthur. I remember those bean fields from visits to Orange County in my youth. For the last 25 years I have lived in the Tustin Foothills, which is an unincorporated area that has a Santa Ana postal address.
