Tanzania Safari

We are trying to find a 6-7 day safari starting and ending in Arusha Tanzania in February 2015.

Q: Is it possible to just "show up" in Arusha and find a safari that would leave within a day? Thanks Jack & Nancy

  • OMG....I have just decided to go back to Tanzania at some point like around late 2030s. I have been to Selous Game Reserve but that was about it. I do plan to visit Tanzania on the countryside! I love seeing the animals but didn't them as much as South Africa. So worth going back to Tanzania!

  • Thanks Scot

  • This is exactly the time of year we went to the UAEalso.  It was great.  Would love to go to Petra someday...it's high on the list for sure.

If you ever decide to go to TZ, I can recommend the guy who did our private safari for us.  He was very good, and not that expensive.  I HIGHLY recommend camping out in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro.

We decided not to go to Africa at this time. After almost 2 weeks in and around the UAE we will head to Jordan and Petra (and Little Petra) for a week. Might also try to get to The Sinai as its just a short ferry ride from Aqaba. We leave in February.

But - really like the advice on (probably) all safari's

    Thanks, Jack Mormon

Yes, you can. There are a lot of touts in Arusha, so the best thing to do is ask through your hotel or somewhere reliable. Do your research ahead of time to get a feel for prices and the level of accommodations you want. You can start with: the Tanzania Tourist Board. There will be other travelers in Arusha also looking for other people to team up with. I've read there have been a lot of safari cancellations because people think the entire continent of Africa is full of ebola, so you shouldn't have any problems.

  • We just got back from doing a six day private safari in Tanzania last month if you need any BTDT.  scot@deservewhatyouwant.com

  • Thanks Pam. It is as suspected. More tours than those wanting to take them. Much appreciated. Jack
