How would you characterize Central America as a travel destination?
This coming March I will have about 10 days to travel from Europe to Central America. There was an idea to visit El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama and perhaps one more destination.
Any hints or ideas on that?

That was one of my biggest dreams before was to visit Central America. I almost visited all the countries in Central America till I turned 30. When I was 30 years old, that was when I started visiting Nicaragua. Nicaragua was deemly the last country I've ever visited in Central America. OMG...I couldn't literally believed that it took me a decade to EVER REACH NICARAGUA! HOLY COW!!! I spent the whole Summer 2013 Study Abroad to Costa Rica to see almost all the provinces in Costa Rica. And I was barely even close to get to the border. I went to the Province Guanacaste (if that's right) and so close to the border of Nicaragua.
I did visit Belize, Honduras on a cruise as well as I got to go do the Panama Canal Cruise December 2017! I also go to visit El Salvador and Guatemala 2019 the year before COVID-19 hit!
But I'm glad that was done! I didn't get to go to Nicaragua until November 2023! But the price was really expensive but had no choice.

we did 6 out of the seven central American countries (all except Belize) in three weeks this year south to north from Panama, but with a good deal of road travel hours. Might be pushing it a bit to cover all this in ten days so my recommendation would be to focus on El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras (just for Copan). Antigua a must and lake Atitlan a strong recomendation (both in Guatemala). Nicaragua (lake Omnitepe) would be a possible add-on, but we found Costa Rica a bit disappointing as far a wildlife.
It is all doable... Honduras (Copan Ruins)... it all depends if you are flying or traveling by road. I spent 20 days around Easter a few years back and was able to see 6 countries with all the highlites...
