Hi JoAnnn & everyone
Australia had a short-lived travel bubble to New Zealand, but that deal got slammed shut when New South Wales (NSW) had an outbreak. Now the NSW outbreak has really taken off and that Premier now acknowledges that it is unlikely they will ever get back to zero cases. Australia & New Zealand did manage to get cases down to zero after each previous outbreak. The outbreaks since the initial wave have all been caused by leaks in hotel quarantine from returning nationals.
Each of the states all slammed their boarders shut with the new NSW outbreak, so traveling around the country is difficult. Tasmania is shut and since Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island are classed as NSW, you would need to hotel quarantine at own expense on your return. I doubt these islands are even open at the moment.
The good news of this new big outbreak is that is has started to speed up the vaccine roll out which was going slow. The problem is that the others states all want to stay at zero, they are keeping their tightly boarders shut.
New Zealand is the same. On Tuesday night NZ entered on a full country 7 day strict level 4 lock down. This has been linked to a hotel quarantine leak from a passenger who bought Delta variant back from NSW.
In NZ, Supermarkets and Chemists the only places allowed open, even fast food outlets are shut. As a consequence of known Delta cases in NZ, Samoa cancelled all incoming flights. Other Pacific nations are also shut, but they have been all along. They look to Fiji and French Polynesia as an example of Covid being introduced by opening the boarders.
Aust, NZ and Pacific are really going to struggle to open up again, especially as they hold on to the zero cases expectation.
Sadly, I have to say - Forget about coming to this region until after this year, at least.
We will be lucky if we are allowed out in time for the Malta conference. Yes, Australians are currently banned from leaving unless they have a good excuse, that is prior approved. Leaving also does not guarantee that they will let you back into the country.
This pandemic is driving those of us with wanderlust crazy.

On JoAnn's post about the trip to Transnistria, we made sure to spend a day in Gaguzia.
Just in case it ever becomes a TCC destination.
Turkish decent, have their own language, their own culture, their own little piece of Romania.
(Easy to remember is you know about Lady Gaga)
Brought back some of the plastic coins/currency from Transnistria. (unique?)

Hi Susan,
Is there such a thing as an Australian covid travel bubble? If so, what TCC destinations are included in it?
Asking for a new Australian provisional member.
Thanks!
JoAnn

Hi There, If wanting to add more to your TCC list, don't forget Tasmania, Lord Howe Island & Norfolk Island, which are all accessible from Australia.
Both Australia and PNG are shut at the moment due to Covid.
Wanderlust travel company did a nice destination zoom on PNG recently, their website will have information about tours.

You spend a day in Bratislava just because you're in Vienna for work,
You fly from Geneva to Dublin ... via Copenhagen, just to visit a new place,
You go from London to Cardiff only to have dinner (and, yes, to tick the box),
...
How hopeless!
I would be disappointed in you if you did not! ;-)

IF we can travel in June 2021, we go on a cruise r/t Venice.
We just might be TCC'ers (and we are) as, rather than spend all of the before cruise time in Venice, we're heading to Lampedusa.
Hey, what good TCC'er wouldn't!
Jack
JoAnne
AND
If you are going that far, why not visit another semi-autonomous area of Moldova = Gagauzia
Just in case it one day does become a TCC destination
Jack
You refuse to join a friend on a trip to Romania and Moldova unless Transnistria can be added in. (That's a no brainer, right? Uh... right?)
Back to Gregory's post, I did a few of these myself. I particularly remember that dinner with friends at Clube Militar De Macau before heading back by speedboat to Hong Kong... That day trip to Bratislava from Vienna was fun as well.
