I am looking to take the passenger ferry from Iquitos, Peru to Belem, Brazil in late May or mid June. This is not the nice tour boat way to travel.
I am unable to locate much info on this online. I cannot locate boat schedules (are they every day?). Can tickets be purchased in advance or only on day of travel?
Has anyone made this trip?

A few years ago, I did some research on this.At the time, I was planning on doing this on my m/cycle, as part of a Top to Bottom "expedition." What follows is what I recal from that process. Key words: Few years ago; and What I recall! To get to Iquitos, one needs to get to Yurimaguas first, as this is (or was) the last point both on the road network and on the river. From Yurimaguas to Iquitos there was no regular "ferry" service, but there is enough river traffic to basically guarantee you a ride to Iquitos. Plus or minus a day....! From Iquitos onwards it was much easier, as there was a regular "ferry" service. I recall as well that,at the time, there was enough info on the net for planning purpose. Anyway good luck with your efforts. Cheers.
